Director of Finance & Accounting – Senior Controller
at Corporate Office in New Albany, Indiana.
Responsible for all aspects of accounting and finance within the organization including: accounting, costing, analysis, budgeting, planning, cash management, and financial reporting.
Duties and Requirements of the Job
- Directs the maintenance of information systems, general ledger and accounting practices including inventories, fixed assets and payrolls.
- Manages all accounting, costing, analysis, budgeting, cash management and financial reporting for Great Escape Theatres.
- Assures that accounting records are prepared, maintained and reported in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and that all ledgers reconcile.
- Oversees preparation of accurate and timely budgets, forecasts and five year plans.
- Conducts financial analysis at the highest level to interpret trends, variances from budgets, bridges, variances from standards and provides advice and counsel to plants consistent with established financial policy.
- Approves schedules, procedures, systems and methods to ensure timely, informative and accurate reporting of all financial data
-Performs those administrative activities necessary for the effective management of the department, including provision for the selection and development of employees, pay administration, budget administration, employee safety, employee counseling and motivation, organization goals and objectives, and planning, organizing, integrating, and measuring the work performed within the department and ensures adequate and continuous control is exercised over the activities affecting quality.
-Actively participates in business and strategic planning to represent assigned areas of accountability.
-Performs such individual assignments as supervisors and superiors may direct; establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department, the Company and the community; and maintains the professional competence, knowledge and skill necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.
Job Skills, Educational Requirements & Other
- 5 - 10 years of progressive financial experience including at least 3 years of management
- An extensive and complete knowledge of accounting principles and practices as typically evidenced by completion of a bachelor’s or master’s degree in business, accounting, or finance and may possess a CPA. Must be disciplined in their application.
- Strong Excel spreadsheet skills, Microsoft Great Plains Accounting Software.
